The Sandstone Preservation Community is dedicated to saving a unique and vital piece of Absarokee, MT's history. Built in 1910, the Sandstone School is one of only three remaining sandstone buildings in the area. This iconic structure is not only historically significant but also holds the distinction of being the only building in town perfectly aligned with true north-south and east-west axes.
As the first purpose-built school in the region, it holds deep cultural value and is listed on the National Historic Register. Reach out today for more information on our campaign!
The Sandstone Preservation Community was founded with the goal to raise funds for critical repairs of this historic building. Our plan is to turn the building into a day care and learning center. Once renovations are complete, this facility will provide valuable educational opportunities for our community, preserving both history and the future of local families. Join us in preserving this cornerstone of Absarokee’s heritage.
With your generous donations, we will not only save the building but also bring to life exciting new plans. We have blueprints in place to transform the Sandstone School into a state-of-the-art learning center, addressing the growing need for early childhood education in the area. This center will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children while fostering learning and growth.
